Habits to Thrive
Love this weather and love that we are back inside again for worship (for those who are comfortable attending). Outside was good - just ask Whitewater member, Ralph, who sent me this pic of his creation from empty communion holders!
I wrapped up our Because COVID series by sharing some key habits to thrive in COVID season. Vicki emailed me this week...
Awesome sermon Sunday on Habits and Developing Good Habits to Thrive and not just survive. Really liked the encouragement of changing our attitudes, positive outlooks, stop blaming others and Trusting God Fully. Great message. So great that I "almost" stood up and yelled PREACH! (coming from in Introvert, that is really saying something!)
C'mon people of God, grow up (in the Lord) and Listen and then ACT on what the Holy Spirit is telling you. If the Holy Spirit isn't convicting you and nudging you to change then #1 - Are you really listening to the Holy Spirit and #2 - Have you really surrendered TOTALLY to Jesus; are you really born again???
I am first to say I am NOT perfect, I have NOT arrived at full spiritual maturity, but I am learning and being transformed day by day. God is renewing my mind daily. It's a slow process, yes, but a continuous one.
Thanks, Vicki. Several asked about "The Power of Habit" piece I opened with. Here it is:
You may know me.
I'm your constant companion.
I'm your greatest helper; I'm your heaviest burden.
I will push you onward or drag you down to failure.
I am at your command.
Half the tasks you do might as well be turned over to me; I'm able to do them quickly,
And I'm able to do them the same way every time if that's what you want.
I'm easily managed; all you've got to do is be firm with me.
Show me exactly how you want it done; after a few lessons I'll do it automatically.
I am the servant of all great men and women; of course, servant of the failures as well.
I've made all the great individuals who have ever been great.
And I've made all the failures, too.
But I work with all the precision of a marvelous computer with the intelligence of a human being.
You may run me for profit, or you may run me to ruin; it makes no difference to me.
Take me. Be easy with me and I will destroy you.
Be firm with me and I'll put the world at your feet.
Who am I?
How are you doing this week taking those bad habits and replacing them with good habits?
Speaking of habits, we've been in the habit of seeing baptisms at Whitewater and had several more this week - still! I continue to marvel how God continues to work even during the coronavirus! Email us if you are considering joining the All-In ranks!
Great article here on the power of human touch that we are missing, too. Can't wait to get back in the habit of shaking hands and hugs!
Men - we need to stay in the habit of connecting with other dudes. Dude Day is coming - October 3. Have you signed up yet? For more info and to register, click here!
