We take the security, safety and health of our precious little ones very seriously.
Security
- Our check-in system uses security nametags to make sure your child is released only to an authorized adult.
- All volunteers and staff are cleared through a national background check and are trained to follow protocol. Their nametags are color-coded corresponding to their position and security level.
- We strive to have appropriate volunteer-kid ratios and volunteers are never alone with a child.
Safety
- Staff regularly survey rooms and learning environments for unsafe conditions, such as exposed electrical outlets, broken toys or furniture.
- Volunteers are trained in emergency and evacuation procedures such as fire or severe weather.
Health
- Parents should tell staff about allergies.
- Children with runny noses, coughs, diarrhea, vomiting, elevated temperatures or rashes will not be accepted in Harbortown.
- Rooms are kept sanitized.
- Volunteers are not authorized to dispense medication unless approved by a Harbortown KIDS Director.
- A basic Band-Aid kit is in each classroom, and a fully-stocked First Aid kit and AED unit are available.
- If a child is injured, an Incident Report and a Boo Boo Report are completed.
- Texts are used to notify parents of issues.
Confidentiality
- Confidentiality is a priority in our ministry and a families' privacy is protected in all situations.
- No posting of photographic recordings is permitted. Any department-wide photographic recording will be communicated to parents in advance. Parents can opt out of their child’s image being used for publication purposes.
