Direct from David: 7 Things on my mind…
Hope you are enjoying this fantastic week leading up to Mother’s Day. Summer weather has finally arrived. Yea God! Here are a few things on my mind this week besides being outside and golfing!
Sending… We have an awesome short-term medical mission team leaving soon to serve with Living Water Christian Mission in Haiti the week of May 14-21. They will be helping to meet the physical and spiritual needs of people there with our partner missionary. On the team are Dr. Kurt Knochel, Ben Knochel, Deanna Chadwick, Betsy Meyer, Karen Osterhout and Kim Schmaltz. Let’s pray for this great team being sent.
Spending… Being a great steward and money manager for God is an ongoing challenge. Dave Ramsey (Financial Peace University) has such awesome material to read and apply.
Learning… We are making available to you what might very well be the best training curriculum and videos on the planet. It is called RightNow Media and you can sign up for free and get resources for a summer (or lifetime) of learning. Check out the awesome stuff there for your kids too. Much better than YouTube, trust me!
Serving… I found out that we have a huge need and opportunity in Student Ministry. We are currently looking for adults who’ll say “YES” to making a difference in the lives of middle school students by leading a small group. Small group leaders serve Sunday mornings at 11:15am. You only need to care we’ll provide all the training you need. Select “Whitewater Students” as the specific serving team on the serving page. It’s super simple and super rewarding!
Speaking of the extreme value of Student Ministry, Anita was my guest on the weekly REV radio program on Eagle Country. Check out her wisdom on teens and parents. And tune in every Sunday night. One of our members told me that he gathers around the radio with his family at 7pm each Sunday night to listen to the show (just like the old time radio days!).
Worshiping… This weekend I will answer an important question – What keeps people from Christ? In case you didn’t know, we also have a sign language interpreter at the 11:15am service for anyone who is deaf or hard of hearing so they can fully engage in our worship gathering. If you know someone with a hearing impairment, invite them to attend at 11:15am and sit on the left side of the worship center near the front for the best view.
I will also have a word this Sunday for all the moms present. We simply cannot place a value on what mothers do. As in past years, Mother’s Day Portraits will be taken in the hallway near entrance #1 (look for the signs) before and after each service. Bring your mom!
Thanking… God for you this week. Thanks for being a part of the global mission of God to provide help, hope, and a home!
